Drip-Tip 810

810 Drip Tips: wide vape mouthpieces for RDL and DTL

The 810 drip tip is a wide mouthpiece commonly used on rebuildable atomizers, subohm clearomizers and devices designed for RDL or DTL vaping. Its larger connection compared with a 510 drip tip allows increased airflow and vapour passage.

This format is particularly common on RDA, RTA, RDTA and high-output tanks. It works well with low-resistance coils, increased power and open airflow, although more restrictive 810 designs are also available for RDL use.

Why choose an 810 drip tip?

The main advantage of the 810 format is its larger opening. On airy atomizers, a wide mouthpiece helps avoid unnecessarily restricting airflow and maintains a smooth inhalation.

810 drip tips are therefore particularly suitable for setups producing substantial vapour. They can also provide comfortable use for vapers who prefer a wider and shorter mouthpiece.

Actual performance still depends on the exact shape of the drip tip, as two 810 designs can have significantly different internal bores and lengths.

Internal bore and airflow

Internal bore plays an important role in draw characteristics. A very wide opening supports substantial airflow and is particularly suited to DTL, while a narrower 810 mouthpiece can retain more restriction for RDL vaping.

Length also affects the feel of the vape. Shorter drip tips provide a more direct experience, while longer versions increase the distance between the mouth and heating area.

The mouthpiece does not replace atomizer airflow adjustment but can fine-tune the sensation created by the device.

Resin, Delrin, Ultem and metal 810 drip tips

810 drip tips are available in many materials. Resin is popular for its colours, patterns and comfortable texture, with individual pieces often showing slightly different visual characteristics.

Delrin and POM are commonly selected because they are lightweight and transfer relatively little heat, making them well suited to high-output atomizers.

Ultem is also widely used on rebuildable and High End hardware due to its heat resistance, while metal mouthpieces such as stainless steel provide a durable finish but can transfer more heat.

810 drip tips for RDA, RTA and RDTA

The 810 standard is very common on rebuildable atomizers. DTL-oriented RDAs frequently use particularly wide drip tips to maximise airflow and complement powerful builds.

RTA and RDTA atomizers can also use 810 mouthpieces when designed for lower-resistance coils and increased vapour production.

For RDL, an 810 drip tip with a more moderate internal bore can preserve some restriction while retaining the comfort of the wider format.

How to check 810 drip tip compatibility

Before purchasing, verify that the clearomizer or atomizer genuinely uses a standard 810 connection. Some devices feature wide mouthpieces but use proprietary mounting systems.

Seal placement should also be considered. Many so-called Goon-style 810 drip tips rely on O-rings installed inside the top cap rather than on the mouthpiece itself.

Checking both the stated connection standard and the mounting design is therefore recommended.

810 or 510 drip tip?

The 510 standard is narrower and is particularly suited to MTL and selected RDL setups. The 810 format is wider and more closely associated with high-airflow atomizers.

Selection should primarily follow hardware compatibility rather than appearance alone. An atomizer designed for 810 normally requires an 810 drip tip unless a suitable adapter is used.

For very open DTL vaping, a wide 810 mouthpiece is generally the most appropriate choice, while more restricted setups may benefit from a 510 or narrower-bore 810 depending on the atomizer.

Cleaning and replacing an 810 drip tip

Regular cleaning is recommended because the mouthpiece comes into direct contact with the lips and can accumulate condensation and e-liquid residue.

An 810 drip tip should be replaced if it becomes cracked, deformed, heavily worn or no longer fits securely. A loose fit can also result from worn O-rings inside the top cap.

Cleaning method should match the material, with resin, Delrin and Ultem generally being straightforward to maintain.
