DIY e-liquid: create your own e-liquids

DIY, meaning “Do It Yourself”, allows vapers to prepare their own e-liquids by combining different components and adjusting the recipe according to their preferences. This approach provides greater control over flavour, nicotine strength and the PG/VG ratio. At Viper Smoke, our DIY category includes neutral bases, flavour concentrates, nicotine boosters, longfills, empty bottles and practical accessories for preparing your own vaping liquids.

PG/VG bases for DIY e-liquid

The base is an essential component of a DIY e-liquid. It generally consists of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) in varying proportions. PG contributes to liquid fluidity and flavour delivery, while a higher VG content generally creates denser vapour and a more viscous e-liquid. The PG/VG ratio should also be selected according to the e-cigarette and coil being used to ensure suitable wicking.

Flavour concentrates to customise your e-liquid

Flavour concentrates define the aromatic profile of a DIY recipe. Fruity, dessert, tobacco, menthol, fresh and more complex blends provide plenty of possibilities for creating a personalised vaping experience. Unlike ready-to-vape e-liquid, flavour concentrate is designed to be diluted in an appropriate base and should not be vaped on its own. Recommended percentages vary between manufacturers and recipes, so the instructions provided for each concentrate should always be followed.

Nicotine boosters to adjust nicotine strength

Nicotine boosters make it possible to add nicotine to an initially nicotine-free preparation. The quantity required depends on the volume of e-liquid, the concentration of the booster and the desired final nicotine strength. Calculations should be based on the total volume after all components have been added. Accurate measurements and thorough mixing help produce a consistent final preparation.

Longfills for easier e-liquid preparation

Longfills offer a convenient alternative to traditional DIY mixing. The bottle contains a predetermined amount of flavour concentrate with additional space for adding base and, where appropriate, nicotine. This format simplifies the flavouring stage while allowing larger quantities of e-liquid to be prepared. The manufacturer's recommended final volume should always be respected to achieve the intended flavour concentration.

Bottles and accessories for DIY mixing

Suitable containers are an important part of DIY e-liquid preparation. Empty bottles make it easier to mix, store and carry finished e-liquids and are available in different capacities. Once the ingredients have been added, the preparation should be thoroughly mixed. Some recipes may also benefit from a maturation period to allow the different flavours to develop and blend together.
