DIY Equipment for Preparing E-Liquids

DIY equipment includes the accessories used to prepare customised e-liquids. Empty bottles, syringes, pipettes, bottle openers, measuring tools and other accessories help users measure ingredients, mix recipes and store finished preparations.

Suitable equipment makes DIY preparation cleaner and more accurate than using improvised tools. The appropriate accessories depend on preparation volume, ingredient type and the level of precision required.

Bottles, syringes and pipettes for accurate dosing

Empty bottles are an essential part of DIY mixing. They are used both to combine ingredients and to store the finished e-liquid. Different capacities allow users to prepare small test batches or larger quantities.

Graduated syringes and pipettes are useful for accurately measuring base, flavour concentrate and other liquid ingredients. They help reduce approximation and make successful recipes easier to reproduce.

For regular DIY mixing, dedicating certain tools to specific ingredients can help limit unwanted flavour contamination.

Bottle openers and accessories for removing dropper tips

Some e-liquid bottles use firmly fitted dropper inserts. A suitable bottle opener makes it easier to remove these parts when adding base, flavouring or boosters.

This type of accessory is particularly useful with certain Chubby Gorilla-style bottles and larger DIY containers.

Once mixing is complete, the insert should be correctly refitted to maintain proper bottle sealing.

Measuring equipment for more precise recipes

Accuracy is important when preparing DIY e-liquid because incorrect dosing can significantly alter flavour intensity, PG/VG ratio or final composition.

Graduated tools make it possible to measure specific liquid volumes, while some users may also choose a suitably precise scale for weight-based mixing.

Whichever method is selected, using a consistent approach makes successful recipes easier to repeat.

Choosing the right DIY bottles

Bottle size should correspond to the intended final volume. Selecting a container with a little additional space can make mixing easier once all ingredients have been added.

Soft bottles generally make filling electronic cigarettes easier through a narrow dispensing tip. Graduated bottles can also provide an approximate indication of remaining volume.

Reusable bottles should be thoroughly cleaned and completely dried before a new preparation is added.

Organising and storing DIY equipment

DIY equipment can quickly expand when several bases, concentrates, bottles and tools are used. Dedicated storage keeps accessories organised and readily accessible.

Small components such as tips, syringes, caps and bottle openers can be stored in separate compartments to reduce the risk of losing them.

Keeping recipes and dosage notes near the equipment can also simplify future mixing sessions.

Cleaning DIY equipment after use

Reusable accessories should be cleaned after each preparation to reduce residue from flavourings, base and finished e-liquid. Poorly cleaned syringes or pipettes can transfer flavour from one recipe to another.

After cleaning, equipment should be fully dried before storage or reuse. Bottles should also be inspected for damaged caps, tips or seals.

Regular maintenance helps keep DIY tools clean and convenient to use.

Preparing a suitable DIY workspace

Before mixing, gather all required ingredients and accessories. Having base, concentrate, bottle, measuring tools and labels ready helps avoid interruptions during preparation.

A clean, stable and easy-to-wipe surface makes liquid handling more convenient. Containers should remain securely closed when not in use.

After mixing, labelling the bottle with recipe name, dosage, PG/VG ratio and preparation date can be useful for future reference.
