Regular nicotine boosters for e-liquids

Regular nicotine boosters are designed to add nicotine to nicotine-free e-liquids, shortfills, longfills and DIY preparations. They are particularly useful with larger e-liquid formats where nicotine needs to be added separately. At Viper Smoke, discover different 10 ml nicotine boosters for adjusting your preparation according to the desired nicotine strength and PG/VG ratio.

What is a regular nicotine booster?

A regular nicotine booster is a base made from propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG) or a combination of both, containing nicotine. Unlike a standard flavoured e-liquid, it is generally unflavoured and intended to be diluted into another preparation. It therefore adds nicotine while increasing the total volume of the finished e-liquid.

10 ml regular nicotine boosters at 20 mg/ml

The 10 ml format at 20 mg/ml is commonly used for adding nicotine to nicotine-free e-liquids. One booster at this concentration contains a total of 200 mg of nicotine. Once added to a 0 mg/ml e-liquid, these 200 mg are distributed throughout the complete finished volume. Final nicotine strength therefore depends on both the starting volume and number of boosters used.

Regular nicotine and freebase nicotine

The terms regular, traditional and freebase nicotine are commonly used for the conventional form of nicotine found in many e-liquids and boosters. It is primarily distinguished from nicotine salts. Regular nicotine generally provides a more noticeable throat hit as concentration increases, which should be considered when choosing both nicotine strength and vaping equipment.

Regular nicotine vs nicotine salts

Regular nicotine and nicotine salts differ in their formulation and vaping characteristics. At comparable concentrations, regular nicotine generally provides a stronger throat sensation, while nicotine salts tend to feel smoother. Nicotine salts are especially associated with lower-powered MTL devices. The appropriate choice therefore depends on desired strength, equipment and vaping sensation.

How to calculate nicotine strength with a booster

To calculate the final strength correctly, the total amount of nicotine must be divided by the finished volume. A 10 ml booster at 20 mg/ml contains 200 mg of nicotine. Added to 50 ml of nicotine-free e-liquid, it produces 60 ml containing 200 mg, which equals approximately 3.33 mg/ml.

Nicotine boosters for shortfills

Shortfills are nicotine-free e-liquids frequently packaged with additional space for a nicotine booster. A common example is 50 ml of e-liquid supplied in a 60 ml bottle, leaving 10 ml available for one complete booster. Always check the actual liquid quantity, bottle capacity and manufacturer's instructions before mixing.

Nicotine boosters for large-format e-liquids

50 ml, 100 ml and other large-format e-liquids are commonly combined with nicotine boosters. As the quantity of nicotine-free e-liquid increases, more booster is required to achieve a given concentration. Nicotine strength should always be calculated according to the total volume after all boosters have been added.

Boosters for longfills and DIY preparations

Regular nicotine boosters can also be incorporated into longfills and DIY recipes. DIY preparations require calculations involving neutral base, flavour concentrates and nicotine boosters. With a longfill, concentrated flavour is already present in the bottle and must be completed with the appropriate quantities of base and nicotine.

Choosing the right PG/VG ratio

The PG/VG ratio of a booster influences the composition of the finished e-liquid. Choosing a booster with a ratio close to that of the original liquid helps maintain its characteristics. A 50/50 PG/VG booster provides a versatile option, while higher-VG formulations may be preferred for certain more airy vaping setups.

Can nicotine boosters dilute flavour?

Yes. Adding a booster increases total liquid volume without adding the flavour concentrates contained in the original recipe. Flavour intensity can therefore decrease as more booster is added. Shortfills are often formulated to accommodate a specified quantity of booster, while adding substantially more than intended can result in greater flavour dilution.

Mixing nicotine boosters correctly

Add the required quantity of booster to the nicotine-free e-liquid when sufficient bottle capacity is available. Close the bottle securely and shake thoroughly to homogenise the mixture. If the original bottle is too small, transfer the ingredients to a clean e-liquid bottle with sufficient capacity.

Storage and safety precautions

Nicotine boosters should be stored securely closed and protected from excessive heat and direct light. Nicotine is addictive and nicotine-containing liquids should be handled carefully. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and always keep bottles out of reach of children and animals. Follow the manufacturer's safety information.
