Tube Vapes: cylindrical electronic cigarettes

A tube-style electronic cigarette is distinguished by its cylindrical format. Slimmer than a conventional box mod, it generally combines a tubular battery with a clearomizer, pod or compatible atomizer, providing straightforward handling and convenient portability.

Tube devices range from compact MTL kits operating at moderate output to more powerful models suitable for RDL. Depending on design, they can use integrated rechargeable batteries or removable cells.

Compact and ergonomic design

One of the main advantages of a tube vape is ergonomics. The cylindrical shape sits naturally in the hand and generally occupies less space than a traditional box mod.

Diameter varies according to device. Slim models are generally designed for MTL and moderate output, while wider tube mods can support larger tanks and increased airflow.

Electronic tube or tubular mod

Electronic tube devices use a chipset to manage output and provide safety protections. Some models automatically adjust power according to the installed coil, while others offer several selectable output levels.

More advanced tubular mods can provide increased power or use removable batteries, making them suitable for users who prefer the shape of a tube but want greater flexibility in atomizer selection.

MTL or RDL tube vaping

Many tube kits are designed for MTL vaping. They generally use relatively high-resistance coils, moderate wattage and restricted airflow for controlled vapour production.

RDL-oriented tube devices use lower resistance and increased airflow, providing a more open draw and denser vapour without necessarily becoming as airy as full DTL setups.

The appropriate device therefore depends on coil resistance, available output and the atomizer installed.

Integrated or removable batteries

Simple tube-style electronic cigarettes generally use integrated rechargeable batteries. This reduces handling and allows the device to be charged directly.

Other tubular mods use removable cells, allowing a depleted battery to be replaced and providing flexibility for higher-output applications when appropriate cells are used.

Actual battery life depends on battery capacity, operating wattage, resistance and vaping frequency.

Which atomizer should you use on a tube battery?

When a tube device uses a standard 510 connection, it can be combined with compatible clearomizers and atomizers. Diameter should be checked to avoid excessive overhang.

Compact MTL clearomizers are generally well suited to smaller tube batteries. Wider and more powerful devices can support RDL tanks when sufficient output is available.

The coil wattage range must always remain compatible with the capabilities of the tube mod.

Which e-liquid should you use with a tube vape?

For moderate-power MTL tube kits, balanced 50/50 PG/VG e-liquids are generally a versatile choice and work well with many compatible clearomizers.

Lower-resistance RDL configurations may support higher-VG formulations when the tank and coil are designed for increased viscosity.

After installing a new coil, allow the wick to become fully saturated before first use.
