Wick 'n' Vape begins in 2014, when mods and drippers were the new trend in vaping.

Nick Richards, owner of Matrix Vapor in Meridian, Idaho, spent most days in his shop building coils and drilling RDAs for his customers. At the time, the most commonly used wicking material was cotton balls from the local drugstore, and while it wasn't ideal, it was the norm. Nick had a customer, Sean, who started coming into his shop with these strange strips of corrugated cotton that were much easier to work with and tasted better than cotton balls.

Sean revealed to Nick that he boiled his cotton balls, unrolled them and laid them out flat to dry. Nick started buying bags of Sean's cotton and offering them to his customers. They used to joke that it looked like bacon because of the wavy nature of its drying, and one day as Sean was delivering fresh merchandise, he shouted "Here's your bacon! The name stuck, and from that point on, every customer at Nick's asked for "cotton bacon." The demand for "Cotton Bacon" grew so much that Sean couldn't keep up, and since there was no other cotton alternative on the market for vaping, the two decided to start a business together, Wick 'n' Vape was born.
